For inspiration on how our range of gravels could enhance your garden project, look through the variety of colours and sizes available, in decorative gravels, premium gravels, and cobbles.

Before making your choice, consider the following:

1.    Location. Shady areas may be prone to an increased level of moss or algae growth, so may not keep their good looks as long, without additional care or maintenance. Gravels placed in high traffic areas could benefit from stepping stones, to preserve an obvious walkway, and reduce spreading of gravel onto adjoining areas.

2.    Function. Will your new gravel be purely decorative, filling a border, or large area of garden as an economical and low maintenance alternative to paving, or lawn, or will your gravel be subjected to high volumes of foot or vehicle traffic. These factors will affect your choice of gravels. Fine gravel is more comfortable to walk on, but decorative, coarser gravel, mixed with larger cobbles, can make an interesting feature.

3.    Size. Gravels come in a variety of sizes, from very fine, suitable for raking into 'Japanese style' patterns, and generally good for walking on, to more decorative, sharper edged, coloured, or larger gravels, suitable for creating feature areas. If you have a large area to cover, consider using a more economically priced general purpose gravel, and spice it up by mixing with a smaller quantity of decorative gravel. For areas that will not be walked on, mixing gravel with decorative cobbles will create an attractive, natural  'riverbank' look.

4.    Type. Mone Bros DIY has a large variety of gravels, from the surrounding areas, and farther afield. For a natural look, consider choosing a locally sourced gravel, which will be likely to blend in with surrounding natural materials, and will be more environmentally efficient, with reduced shipping costs usually resulting in lower pricing.

For all your garden gravel projects, Mone Bros DIY has a wide choice of gravels at competitive prices, waiting to inspire the landscape gardener in you.
